The Supportive Crisis Stabilization Center (SCSC) will be open 24-7-365 and will offer voluntary stabilization services & supports to individuals of any age experiencing a crisis relating to mental health or substance use symptoms.
MHAST was awarded a grant from the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) & the NYS Office of Addiction Services And Supports (OASAS) to develop and operate a Supportive Crisis Stabilization Center (SCSC). The center will serve an 8-county region and provide an alternative to the ER and CPEP for crises relating to mental health or substance use symptoms. Individuals can stay at the SCSC up to 24-hours for crisis intervention and support.
The SCSC will be staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSW), Certified Peer Specialists, Substance Use Counselors (CASAC) and other trained professionals. Peer support and recovery will play a vital role in the center. SCSC services will include: de-escalation, safety planning, psychoeducation, peer support, coping skills, emotion regulation and referrals to treatment services and supports.
