The Compeer Program serves both adults and youth through its volunteer mentoring and supportive friendships. The Compeer Program is designed to encourage adult individuals with a mental health diagnosis and youth considered “at-risk” to build self-confidence and healthy relationships. This is achieved through involvement in one-on-one friendships, innovative programming and regular social contact. Friends agree to meet for a total of, at minimum, of 4 hours a month. Our goal at Compeer is to provide friendship and the needed support system to help individuals feel more connected to their community. Participants are referred into the Compeer Program by their therapists, school counselors or case managers.
“The positive relationship between my son and his mentor has improved his relationship with me and improved his schoolwork. He looks forward to spending time with his friend.” – David
